Volvo is publicising the XC90 T8 Excellence as their most luxurious offering, and for good reasons. The recently launched SUV is a newly developed plug-in hybrid that delivers top grade comfort levels as well as zero emission motoring for up to 40km.
Here's a brief look at the new XC90 T8 Excellence, straight from the official national launch.
Volvo has featured a lot of exterior design cues that are exclusive to the T8 Excellence model. Bits like silver garnish across the bodywork and satin silver finish for the B and C pillars.
Otherwise, this plug-in hybrid model looks exactly like the standard XC90 and continues to feature interesting details like the gaping grille, dual tail pipes and T-shaped DRLs.
Inside, the T8 Excellence features extended leather-covered surfacing, crystal glass gear knob, massage function for all four seats and an upgraded premium audio system with 20 speakers.
Based on Volvo's SPA platform, the car combines a 2-litre 4 cylinder petrol engine with an 87bhp electric motor for a combined output of 407bhp and 640Nm of torque and just 49g/km CO2 emissions.
The hybrid powertrain offers three driving modes - Pure, Hybrid and Power. In the performance focused Power mode, Volvo is claiming a 0-100kmph time of just 5.6 seconds.
Being a Volvo, there's an overload of safety features. As a matter of fact, you get adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, auto braking, rear collision warning and lots of airbags.
The XC90 T8 Excellence is the first vehicle in India to feature radar guidance. The recent delicensing of certain frequencies of radar has allowed Volvo to launch it's radar-based safety features.
Volvo has included two charging stations for the price of the T8 Excellence. The charging station can charge the car within 2.5 hours for a pure electric driving range of around 40km.
The XC90 T8 Excellence is priced at Rs 1.25 crore ex-showroom Delhi. It sits on the top of the Volvo chain as their most luxurious offering ever.
