The Volvo XC90 has been awarded a five star rating under the 2015 Euro NCAP tests. The flagship Swedish SUV has become the first car to score hundred per cent points in the Safety Assist category (AEB City and AEB Interurban).
Volvo is one of the pioneers of the automotive safety technology and it comes as no surprise that the company managed to be the first to score full points in the AEB City and AEB Interurban NCAP test. The Swedish manufacturer also gives enough importance to pedestrian safety, despite it not being part of the safety protocol.
Speaking about the achievement, Martin Magnusson, Principal Engineer at Volvo Car Group said, “We are the first car manufacturer to surpass the criteria that Euro NCAP have applied to the AEB Interurban and City testing procedures. City Safety is one of the most advanced standard crash prevention offers you can find in a modern car. It addresses vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians in certain situations, day and night.”
The 2015 XC90 has been officially launched in India at a starting price of Rs 64.90 lakh (ex-Delhi), although the deliveries are expected to being this month. The seven-seater SUV is a direct competitor to the Audi Q7 and Mercedes-Benz GL.
