If you think the regular XC90 isn’t striking enough for a flagship SUV, think again as Volvo has just unleashed a new R-Design version. Finished in bright red paint, this new model is the sportiest XC90 to date, featuring a range of design and equipment upgrades to give Volvo’s seven-seater SUV a sporty makeover.
Apart from the colour, the XC90 R-Design can be distinguished by its 20-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, silver-effect door mirrors, gloss black mesh front grille and tinted rear windows.
The 5-spoke 20-inch alloys do a good job of enhancing the XC90’s street cred. Note the 275-section low profile Continental tyres.
In line with the XC90’s tough and upright stance, the gaping front grille is dominated by a massive Volvo logo and gets a contrasting silver surround.
Inside, there are leather sports seats, a 12.3-inch display and a perforated leather-trimmed steering wheel complete with gearshift paddles.
The R-Design XC90s also get a powered front passenger seat with memory function (to match the driver’s seat), sports pedals, black headlining and upgraded interior lighting.
There’s also Drive Mode Settings as standard which allows the driver to choose between different settings for the engine and gearbox, steering and the optional air suspension.
The XC90 R-Design versions can be had in the UK with the D5 diesel and T6 petrol engines, and in T8 petrol-electric hybrid form.
