Volvo has revealed a special version of its second generation of its XC90 SUV, online ahead of its China debut. Dubbed the Excellence, the version of the XC90 gets mostly cosmetic changes as well as an extended feature list over the standard vehicle.
Externally, the XC90 Excellence is virtually the same as the standard car save for some chrome trim around the B-pillar and C-pillar. There does not even appear to be any kind of extra badging to differentiate the Excellence model and the standard car.
Inside, the biggest change is that Volvo has fitted the rear with a two-seat configuration as compared to the standard XC90’s five-seat design. They also get extended legroom, massaging and ventilation function, retractable touchscreens, folding tables, cup holders with temperature function, fridge and handmade Swedish crystal glasses.
To further add to the luxury experience, Volvo has increased the quality of noise insulation and has also fitted the car with Pirelli’s noise cancelling tyres. Oh and before we forget, Volvo has also given the XC90 Excellence a 19-speaker Bowers and Willkins system, ambient lighting and leather interiors.
The XC90 Excellence will make its debut at the Auto Shanghai 2015 in China next week and will go on sale in specific markets by late 2015. We believe that Volvo will bring a limited number of XC90 Excellence to the Indian market when it launches the SUV later this year.
