Volvo has this vision which states that by 2020 no one should be killed or seriously injured in any of their new cars. Now that’s a seriously bold vision if you ask us, however, if we look at the safety standards of Volvo’s latest range of cars, it seems the brand is well on its way to fulfil that vision. The latest-gen XC90, for instance, has been rated as the safest vehicle in its class by EuroNCAP.
As a matter of fact, the XC90 has received the 2015 Euro NCAP best in class award for both large off-road and overall performance categories. The luxury SUV scored 100 per cent in the Safety Assist category and an impressive 97 per cent in adult occupant protection.
Besides the usual assortment of active and passive safety technologies including a rigid structure, over half a dozen airbags and lots of driver aids, theXC90 also boasts of semi-autonomous driving technologies that help it lead its class in terms of occupant and pedestrian safety.
