Volvo’s middleweight SUV, the XC60, was expected to be launched by December 2017 here in India. Now that the car has been spotted testing, we can look forward to the arrival of another good-looking Volvo.
Styled using the same design language as the XC90 and the S90, the XC60 gets that signature vertically slatted grille and the Thor’s hammer headlamps that define the fascia. But unlike the XC90, the XC60 retains the curves from its predecessor, especially the rear fender shoulder. The vertical tail lamps have also been retained, but with modern LED touches.
We haven’t been able to get a peek inside, but the interiors will most probably come in beige and black and of course, wrapped in leather. The new Volvo cars are plush and are laden with all modern equipment and hence, the XC60 will get its share of bells and whistles as well. And it will also be one of the safest cars in its segment.
While the speculations of it getting the 235bhp setup are rife, we think, for its size, the 190bhp setup from the 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine will be apt. Of course, it will get the automatic gearbox and the all-wheel drive with 18-inch alloys laying rubber on the road.
The XC60 will be pitted against the Mercedes GLC, BMW X3, Audi Q5 and the Land Rover Discovery Sport rival, along with the soon-to-be-launched Lexus NX.
