Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription launched at Rs 96.65 lakhs

- Seven-seat hybrid SUV

- Most of features carried forward from XC90 Inscription diesel variant

Volvo has expanded its XC90 lineup with the T8 Inscription which is priced at Rs 96.65 lakhs (ex-showroom, India). The XC90 T8 Inscription has been introduced in a seven-seat configuration and sits below the four-seat T8 Hybrid Excellence. Coincidentally, the XC90 T8 Inscription is also the only seven-seat SUV to offer a hybrid powertrain. Apart from a new petrol and electric motor, the XC90 T8 Inscription carries most of the features from the XC90 Inscription diesel variant.

Under the hood, the new model gets a 2.0-litre, direct injection four-cylinder petrol engine coupled with an electric motor. The electric motor produces around 81bhp of power and 240Nm of torque, combined it will generate around 398bhp of power and 640Nm of torque. The powerful engine comes mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The rear wheels are powered by the electric motor while the front is powered by the petrol engine. Reports claim that the vehicle can cover a distance of up to 32kms on a full charge. The company claims that the XC90 T8 Inscription can sprint from 0-100kmph in just about six seconds. 

The battery can charged over 110V or a 240V power outlet over a time of 12 hours and six hours, respectively. Moreover, it also features the brake energy recuperation feature which charges the battery every time whenever the brakes are used. Like the T8 Excellence, Volvo will also offer two charging stations and install them at no additional cost. The charging stations are capable of charging the vehicle in just about 2.5-hours. The vehicle is offered with six-driving modes – Save, Pure, Hybrid, Power, All-Wheel Drive and Off-Road.          

The XC90 T8 Inscription does miss out on a few features from the T8 Excellence. But then, the new seven-seater hybrid is offered with adaptive suspension, HUD, four-zone climate control, Bowers and Wilkins entertainment system, panoramic sunroof, Nappa leather seats with ventilation function for the front row.
