Volvo India will launch the V40 Cross Country for the Indian market at a function in Delhi tomorrow. The Swedish automaker had unveiled the car during the 2012 Paris Motor Show and is the third variant based on the V40 hatchback. It is a more beefed up version of the standard car and features mainly cosmetic changes on the outside. It expected that Volvo will only launch one diesel engined variant through the CBU route.
The India spec V40 Cross Country will be powered by a 2.0-litre-inline five turbo diesel engine that produces 148bhp and 350Nm of peak torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a six-speed ‘Powershift’ automatic gearbox. The car rides on 17-inch “Larenta” alloy wheels with brushed-aluminum finish.
The V40 has been loaded with features like front, curtain and knee airbags, ABS+EBD, Traction Control, ESP and City Safety Braking. The crossover gets cruise control, park assist system, and leather seats with ventilation function, panoramic sun roof, rear parking sensors, rear parking cameras and an 8 -inch TFT display based infotainment system that provides the provision to switch between three driving modes – Elegance, Eco and Performance.
Aesthetically, the V40 will be available in a choice of Misty blue, Passion red, Raw copper and silver metallic with three leather interior offering of Black Charcoal, Light Brown as well as a Black Charcoal with Hazel Brown.
The Volvo V40 Cross Country competes with the Audi Q3 and the BMW X1. We believe that Volvo will price the V40 Cross Country at Rs 28.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
