Volvo has taken the wraps off the Polestar XC90 T8. A high performance version of an already powerful car, it is based on the top-of-the-line XC90 T8 twin-engine but now with a tuned engine as well as some other mechanical bits.
The SUV has been tuned with the help of reigning four-time Scandinavian Touring Car Championship (STCC) champion and Polestar Cyan Racing driver Thed Björk. It is powered by the same four-cylinder 2.0-litre petrol engine and electric motor found in the stock car but now they have been tuned to produce 421bhp and a whopping 681Nm of torque.
While this is not a particularly huge boost, you must consider that this engine is supercharged, turbocharged and direct-injected. Polestar has also worked on improving throttle and gearbox response. The package is already available for European customers. We in India are unlikely to get this Polestar package any time soon but will instead get the XC90 T8 Hybrid later this year.
