Volvo's Indian counterpart is all set to introduce the V90 Cross Country on 12 July. This will be the third Cross Country model to be introduced here after the V40 and the S60 iterations.
The V90 Cross Country is based on the S90. In fact, it is the estate version of the S90 sedan with the boot replaced by a proper cargo space. Furthermore, this vehicle gets increased ground clearance, beefier looks with body cladding, bigger wheels and an AWD system to enhance its off-road capabilities.
Unlike the S90 that uses a D4 engine, the V90 cross Country will employ the D5 2.0-litre mill. This unit produces 235bhp of power and 480Nm of torque. It comes mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox and features four driving modes - eco, comfort, rough road and dynamic.
While estates and station wagons have not found a good demand in our country, the Volvo V90 Cross Country is expected to be an aspiring buy. Packed with the practicality of an estate and SUV, and the comfort features and driving pleasure of a sedan, Volvo is confident it will strike a chord with Indian buyers. We are expecting it to be priced in between Rs 55 lakhs - Rs 60 lakhs.
