Volvo has announced the launch of the S90 luxury sedan for the Indian market. November 4 is when the Scandinavian car will go on sale in our country.
The S90 made its debut at the 2016 Detroit Motor Show, where all the details were revealed. While it is based on Volvo's Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform, the sedan follows the XC90's design language. It is prominent with styling traits like the 'Thor's Hammer' shaped headlights and the Iron Mark front grille.
Inside, the story isn't different as it sports the latest equipment and tech from the other siblings. So the car get features like Bowers and Wilkins infotainment system, Nappa leather upholstery and so on. There is also a touchscreen climate-control interface for rear passengers upping the luxury quotient. The car is also loaded with a bunch of safety features like pilot assist, park assist, city safety and animal detection technology.
Volvo India will offer the top-end T5 Inscription trim for the Indian market. This comes powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine that churns out 187bhp of power and 400Nm of torque. Transmission duty is done by an eight-speed Geartronic automatic gearbox.
The Volvo S90 will be the latest offering from the Swedish carmaker, who currently offers the V40, V40 Cross Country, S60, S60 Cross Country, XC60 and the XC90 in India. The luxury sedan will be available as a single variant that comes with all the bells and whistles. Upon launch, it will go up against the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5 Series, Audi A6 and the Jaguar XF in its segment.
