Having showcased it at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, Volvo is looking to bring the all-new S90 to India. The new mid-size luxury sedan is expected to arrive in the Indian market within the next two months.
The S90 made its global debut at the2016 Detroit Motor Show as a replacement for the old S80. The former has all the typical modern Volvo traits in its design including the iron slat front grille and Thor’s hammer headlamps. Inside, the S90 is similar to that of the XC90 with its minimalist design thanks to the large touchscreen and lack of buttons on the dashboard.
Based on Volvo’s Scalable Product Architecture platform, the new S90 will be offered with the same engine as the XC90. This means a 2-litre turbo diesel in two different state of tunes – 190bhp and 235bhp.
While the old S80 was never quite there to compete with the likes of BMW 5 Series, Audi A6 and Mercedes E-Class, the new S90 is a vastly improved proposition with the looks and technology to match its European rivals.
