Volvo it seems is gunning for the elite businesspersons of China with its new S90. After unveiling the S90 Excellence with a unique three seater layout, the Swedish carmaker has now officially launched the long wheelbase model of the S90.
Prices for the S90 long wheelbase range between 399.800 yuan (Rs 39.08 lakh) and 579.800 yuan (Rs 56.67 lakh) in China. The S90 Excellence, meanwhile, will launch sometime next year.
Under the hood, there’s a 2-litre petrol engine in two different state of tunes – 190bhp and 254bhp, both paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
For this new S90, Volvo has stretched the car’s wheelbase by up to 12cm for more room at the back. The car, as a result, competes with the long wheelbase BMW 5Li, Jaguar XFL and Mercedes E-Class L. Considering that luxury car owners here in India have similar buying preferences, it does not seem out of place for Volvo to bring this car to India.
