Volvo will launch the T6 variant of the S60 sedan in India on July 3. While the three diesel trims of the S60 currently sold in India were launched in 2013, the T6 will be the first petrol variant in the premium sedan’s line-up.
The T6 is a performance-oriented version of the S60 sedan which packs a powerful 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine under the hood. This engine gets both turbocharging and supercharging, and develops 304bhp and 400 Nm of torque. The power is sent to the front wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission. Being just a new variant, the S60 T6 will be cosmetically identical to its diesel counterparts.
Equipment-wise, we can expect the S60 T6 to carry over all the creature comforts and safety features from its diesel counterparts. Like the rest of the Volvo range, the S60 will be imported to the country as a completely built unit. The Volvo S60 competes with other expensive premium sedans like the BMW 3 Series, Audi A4 and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
