Volvo India has opened a new dealership in Elante Mall, Business Block in Chandigarh. Called Krishna Auto Sales, the new showroom is located in the Industrial Area, Phase 2 behind LTS Hotel. It is spread over an area of 2,200 sqft and will stock the luxury manufacturer’s entire Indian range.
Speaking about the new dealership, Tomas Ernberg, Managing Director, Volvo Auto India said, “Buoyed by our increased acceptability among our valued customers in the last 2-3 years, we are now looking at further strengthening our foothold and expanding our reach in the Indian market. With the all-new Volvo Retail Experience at the Chandigarh showroom, we have moved yet another step closer to our customers.”
The dealership will also have a workshop which offers exclusive services including a 24-hour helpline. The dealership will be owned by Mr Krishna Group, which has been involved in this industry since 1967. Besides this Volvo showroom, Krishna Group also owns dealerships of Tata Motors commercial vehicles, JCB earth moving equipment, Honda two-wheelers, Skoda Auto passenger cars and BMW passenger cars.
Volvo currently sells five models in India through the CBU route- the V40 Cross Country crossover, S60 and S80 sedans and the XC60 and XC90 SUVs. The Swedish car maker has chalked out a new strategy for the Indian market with the aim of achieving 10,000 units in sales by 2018, a ten-fold increase as compared to its sales numbers of 2013. It plans to launch the new XC60 and the S60 in India and will also start assembling its cars locally at the upcoming facility in Karnataka.
