Volvo has officially unveiled the V60 Cross Country ahead of the car’s debut at the 2014 Los Angeles Motor Show this week. The Cross Country essentially is a rugged looking, high-riding version of the V60 sports wagon that the Swedish carmaker has been selling for a long time.
The Cross Country version can be had with 18 and 19-inch wheels shod in high profile tyres. The vehicle also features skid plates at the front and rear, side scuff plates and fender extenders for improved road presence and rough road performance. Further helping the off- road capabilities is the 65mm increased ground clearance compared to the standard V60.
Speaking of the standard V60, the car was refreshed in 2013 with a new front and rear, along with a host of feature updates. Volvo also introduced a new 2-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine producing close to 181bhp of power. The V60 Cross Country will be offered in the UK with the D3 FWD, D4 FWD and D4 AWD configurations.
Volvo has revealed that production for the V60 Cross Country will commence for the UK in May next year and deliveries are expected to start from late June. While Volvo India currently sells the V40 Cross Country locally, it is highly unlikely for the brand to introduce the bigger V60 Cross Country due to lack of demand among Indian buyers for such a vehicle.
