The newly launched Volvo XC90 T8 Excellence is offered with two charging station installations for customers and that too at no additional cost. The installation process will be undertaken by the company’s technical team at the customer’s preferred locations. The charging stations enable the hybrid SUV to be charged in just about 2.5 hours.
Additionally, in an effort to enhance the safety aspect, the automaker has introduced the radar system. The vehicle is equipped with 360 degrees radar and inputs from the camera activates an array of pre-emptive safety functions such as - adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, collision warning with full auto-braking for pedestrians, cyclists, other vehicles and large animals, blind-spot detection with Cross traffic alert, rear collision warning and park pilot assist.
Along with new high end radar systems in place, the new Volvo XC90 T8 Excellence is also offered with strong safety cage, seat-belt pre-tensioners and world-first run off-road protection system. Moreover, it also features maximum Side Impact protection and Whiplash protection thereby helping it earn a 5-Star Euro NCAP rating.
The XC90 T8 Excellence is also the most luxurious ever to be produced in the company’s history spanning over 89 years. Speaking about the new model, Tom von Bonsdorff, Managing Director, Volvo Auto India, said “The XC90 T8 Excellence sets industry benchmarks for environment friendly efficiency and emissions while enveloping customers in first-class Swedish luxury. It is not only a segment-first but India’s first plug-in hybrid SUV and we see a lot of interest from our more affluent customers, who prefer to experience ‘responsible’ luxury”.
It is to be seen if the company will be introducing the radar technology in the upcoming models as well. Though there are no immediate plans, it is unlikely to be offered in any of the upcoming new models owing to the price sensitive nature of the Indian market.
