Volvo India today made its foray into the premium sedan segment with the launch of the S60. The S60 according to Paul de Voijs, Managing Director, Volvo Auto India, is a naughty sedan and will create the same impact as the earlier launched SUV the XC60. The S60 is launched with both the petrol and the diesel variants. The two diesel variants namely the D5 Kinetic and Summum are priced at 27 and 32 lakhs respectively while the petrol variant the T6 Summum is priced at Rs 34 Lakhs (all prices ex-showroom Mumbai without octroi and Delhi).
The T6 all-wheel drive petrol powertrain churns out 304 bhp with a 440Nm of torque. While the D5 twin turbo diesel variant produces 207bhp and 420 Nm of torque. As one could expect, Volvo has put in a host of safety features in its naughty sedan apart from the other standard features. The S60 get dual-tone Benchwood and Black interiors not to mention an all-new infotainment system where information from the audio unit, navigation system, mobile phone and other functions is presented on a 7-inch colour screen in the upper part of the centre console. The driver has access to all infotainment functions via controls and a scroll function in the steering wheel. It also includes Bluetooth, USB and iPod connectivity. The S60 features a high performance audio with DVD and 8 speakers.
The XC60 has been at the receiving end of a lot of praise and Volvo India, as promised, has got out the S60 in the first quarter of 2011. The car will be made available in Volvo dealerships across the country from March. So if you are looking at something sporty, comfortable, safe, not to mention fabulously spacious, then the S60 is what you have been waiting for!
