It is indeed commendable the way Volvo has managed to smartly price the XC90 T8 Excellence in India. Especially when the vehicle has been introduced in the country via the CBU route and has not received any benefits from the government’s FAME scheme. However, over a time period the company will be approaching the government body to avail concessions for its hybrid vehicle, which will eventually be passed to the customers as well.
In the company’s history spanning over 89 years, the Volvo XC90 T8 Excellence is the most luxurious vehicle ever to be produced. Volvo’s radar technology enabled SUV has been introduced in India via a quarterly licence agreement with the concerned government bodies. Post three months, the automaker will apply for fresh licence when it intends on importing a fresh lot in the country. Additionally, once the hybrid SUV units arrive in India and clears various norms and certification process, the automaker will approach FAME to avail hybrid benefits which has been recently announced by the government.
The XC90 T8 Excellence from Volvo is powered by an electric as well as a petrol engine. The 2.0-litre direct injection supercharged petrol engine produces 316bhp of power, while in combination with an electric motor it generates 401bhp of power and 640Nm of torque. The vehicle is capable of sprinting from 0-100kmph in just about 5.6-seconds and is available in three driving modes - Pure, Hybrid and Power.
