There is no doubt that Volvo is a pioneering brand in car safety but when it comes to selling cars, especially here in the Indian market, the brand seems to be struggling a bit compared to some of its competitors. Cars like the S60 and the XC60 make a lot of sense for those look looking to travel in a comfortable and efficient way.
Volvo is about to make even more sense as the company is expected to bring in its new fuel efficient four-cylinder diesel engine here in the Indian market. According to a report by Overdrive, a new 2-litre, four cylinder diesel engine will be offered with the S60, the XC60 and the S80.
Producing around 180bhp, this new D4 diesel engine is said to return some impressive fuel efficiency figures - 26.31 kmpl for the manual S60. Volvo has reportedly made a list of enhancements to the mechanicals which include better refinement levels, reduced friction and heat transfer. Volvo India is expected to make a formal announcement soon for the new diesel range which could be introduced sometime in March this year.
