Volvo India has inaugurated a new dealership in Kolkata. The new dealership is a 3S facility in Rajarhat, West Bengal, and has a workshop nearby. The Swedish carmaker plans to open up a new showroom every month for the next six months to achieve double of its segment share by the year 2020.
The new SPL Volvo is built on an 8100sq.ft showroom and has a dedicated service centre in a 20,000sq.ft plot. This fully operational facility is equipped to cater the increasing demand for the high-end luxury cars in West Bengal and its catchment.
Inaugurating the dealership, Charles Frump, managing director, Volvo Car India, said, “Kolkata is the gateway to the east and home to a lot of affluent families. It is a high growth potential hub that caters not only to the metropolis but also to nearby markets. Having strong partners is the right step in achieving our mid-term goal of doubling our segment share by 2020. I am confident that our partners SPL Volvo will help us in achieving our sales and service objectives in the market.”
Nikunj Sanwaria, dealer principal, SPL Volvo, states that there is a lot of interest for Volvo in the market and they are receiving enquiries for the brand already. “Customer service is the core differentiator for us and we will strive to provide unmatched service to our customers. The entire range of Volvo cars will be retailed and serviced from our new facility”, he added.
Volvo will be launching the all-new XC40 in India next month and the bookings for the compact SUV has commenced across all dealerships. The XC40 is Volvo’s take on the BMW X1 and Audi Q3 and is expected to come in at a base price of around Rs 40 lakhs ex-showroom.
