Volvo has taken the covers off not one but three exciting new concept models in recent times. First up was the Concept C coupe which was shown in August last year and following it was the XC coupe shown earlier this year at the Detroit Motor Show.
Volvo then arrived at this year’s Geneva Motor Show with the Concept Estate which is third amongst the series of concept cars which showcases the brand’s new design language. The estate concept, in particular, is quite an important one given that it reveals how the interior of Volvo’s future models will both appear and function. Naturally then, the concept will eventually pave way for a forthcoming production model.
The car, in fact, could well be turned into reality in a year’s time, as stated by German car magazine Autobild. According to the report, Volvo could be looking at a replacement model for the V70 with this new concept. The car could be named the V90.
The Concept Estate is one of the first models to have been designed using Volvo’s new Scalable Product Architecture (SPA). It takes inspiration form the Volvo 1800 ES, a sporty estate with an all-glass tailgate that was launched back in 1972. The concept has successfully brought to the table an impressive new look and a rather bold design language for the company which is less known for its design or aesthetic appeal.
