Swedish car manufacturer Volvo has reported a 40 per cent growth in car sales from January to October 2018 by selling 2194 units this year as compared to 2029 units sold in the same period last year. The company attributes its strong growth to popular selling models like the XC60 and the recently launched XC40, which is coincidentally the most affordable model.
The recent product launches, network expansions and customer engagement programs conducted by Volvo have further helped the Swedish car manufacturer strengthen its foothold in the country. Speaking on the occasion, Charles Frump, Managing Director - Volvo Car India shared, "We are extremely happy with our performance so far in 2018. The XC40 has been received well and its success is important for the brand to be accepted in the entry-level luxury segment. The network expansions too have contributed to the growth and we are on track to replicate the growth percentage previous year in 2018."
Volvo expects a further growth in sales this festive season due to network expansion. The brand has recently introduced five new dealerships in the country in locations such as Kozhikode, Raipur, Kolkata, Indore and Noida, thereby bringing the overall dealership count to 21 as of October 2018.
