Volvo cars India will launch the all-new XC90 in May. It had previously announced that bookings for the SUV would begin May and that it would launch the car in September but has now decided to speed up its arrival due to strong customer demand. It will however, continue on its schedule on other aspects and will deliver the cars to customers in September.
The 2015 Volvo XC90 was unveiled in August last year and is the second generation model of the Swedish automaker’s flagship SUV. It carries the language of the automaker’s new design philosophy and is being offered with both petrol and diesel engines, though we in India are expected to get only the latter.
The company expects 200 pre-orders and aims to deliver 400 units of the XC90 by the end of this financial year. During the launch of the V40 Cross Country petrol, Tomas Ernberg, MD of Volvo Cars India also said that we will be one of the markets which will get the XC90 Excellence special edition when its production and deliveries begin next year. The launch of the XC90 will be followed in June by the launch of the S60 T6 petrol variant, which is expected to be Volvo’s second petrol model for the Indian market in its current lineup.
