- Gets attractive offers every month
- Outsells all of its rivals including the popular Hyundai Verna
The sedan segment, especially the mid-size group, is usually overlooked by the masses looking to purchase a new car due to the ever-growing popularity of SUVs of all types in India. However, some brands have kept the segment alive for the admirers of three-box saloons. These brands include Hyundai, Honda, Volkswagen, Skoda, and even Maruti Suzuki.
Out of the brands mentioned above, Hyundai has become the most likely first-choice option for those who are out to purchase a sedan. As has been the case since its launch, the Korean maker has asserted its dominance with the Verna. However, this has changed in the last few months. Volkswagen Virtus has come to be on top of the sales chart of sedans in the country since Jan 2024.
The Volkswagen Virtus has gathered 4,932 unit sales from May to July. This is over 15 per cent more than the Hyundai Verna’s 4,225 unit sales in the same period. Not just that, the Virtus has been the top-dell sedan in the H1 of 2024. This bump in sales of the Volkswagen Virtus can be attributed to the heavy discounts the sedan has received since the start of this year. Also, many new variants, special editions, and feature updates have been introduced for the sedan to make it more appealing to customers.
Currently, the Volkswagen Virtus is available at a starting ex-showroom price of Rs. 11.56 lakh. Meanwhile, the top-spec version is up for sale at an asking price of Rs. 19.41 lakh. Coming to the new features, the Virtus, since its launch, has gained features such as powered and ventilated front seats, six airbags as standard, and an enhanced audio system.
