In an effort to further boost up sales for the Vento, German car manufacturer Volkswagen will be introducing the Vento Sport in India soon. The popular C-sedan segment has been due for a facelift for quite some time now. Changes in the upcoming Sport edition will be limited to cosmetic and feature upgrades while mechanically it will continue to be powered by existing engine options.
Volkswagen Vento Sport is likely to be based on the range-topping Highline Plus variant and will be offered with a black finished grille and a gloss black roof wrap. As for sides, the vehicle gets black decals, chrome 'Sport' badging on the front fenders, carbon-fibre finished ORVMs and dark grey 16-inch Portage alloy wheels. As for the rear, the Vento Sport gets a black finished rear lip spoiler.
As for the interior, the Vento Sport is expected to be offered with a touchscreen infotainment system with reverse camera and MirrorLink connectivity, faux leather upholstered seats and leather wrapped steering wheel and gearshift knobs. As for safety, the vehicle gets dual airbags and ABS with ESP. Additionally, it also features LED headlamps with LED DRLs.
It is believed that the Vento Sport might be available in two petrol and one diesel engine option. The 1.2-litre turbocharged TSI petrol mated to a seven-speed DSG transmission generates 103bhp of power and 175Nm of torque, the 1.6-litre MPI mated to a five-speed manual transmission generates 103bhp of power and 153Nm of torque. The 1.5-litre TDI diesel unit is available in five-speed manual or DSG options and generates around 108bhp of power.
Prices for the Volkswagen Vento Sport will be announced soon and it is expected to command a slight premium over the regular top-spec model.
