Volkswagen India has commenced exporting the Vento to the Mexican market. This makes Mexico the third country to get the company’s products from its Pune plant in Maharashtra. The German maker has been exporting left hand drive version of the Vento to the Middle East countries since 2012 and the right hand version to South Africa.
The company is in the process of making Mexico the single largest export market for Volkswagen India with every second car being produced for exports at its Pune facility. The first lot of cars has already reached the country and will be launched in the beginning of November.
“The Vento was specifically designed and built for Indian customers. However its success in a competitive market like India has opened up doors for exporting this car to various other markets. Expanding the exports to new and demanding markets is a testimony to the high quality and standards of manufacturing followed at our plant. Mexico will be an extremely important market for us as every second export car manufactured at the Pune Plant will be destined for Mexico,” said Mr. Kodumudi, president and managing director, Volkswagen India Pvt. Ltd.
