A few test mules of the Volkswagen Vento and Polo were recently spied on test in Pune. Though these cars didn't have many changes to their exterior, they did sport DRLs and new head lights.
Volkswagen had displayed the Vento at the Auto Expo with some additional features. The vehicles spotted on test also sported similar DRLs (daytime running lights) and LED headlamps as seen on the showcased model. The design pattern of the alloy wheels is also new, while the carmaker might also offer black wheels as an option. The Vento and Polo might get all these features in a new Highline Plus variant that should be positioned above the Highline trim.
The upcoming VW Vento Highline Plus will get both the petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol variants should carry over the 1.6-litre MPI naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol and the 1.2-litre TSI turbocharged four-cylinder petrol. However, we are expecting the carmaker to introduce the upgraded 1.5-litre diesel mill instead of the 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel. Transmission options including the automatic gearbox will remain the same.
The new features might be introduced in 2017 with the launch of the updated VW cars. The new trim's launch will also bring in the pending upgrade of the 1.5-litre diesel engine. We are expecting VW to price this trim marginally higher than the current Highline trim.
