The Volkswagen Passat may not have done very well in India, but it’s a different story altogether in the USA. The car, in fact, is one of the best-selling models from Volkswagen’s sedan range and has just achieved a significant production milestone.
Volkswagen USA has just built its 500,000th unit of the Passat which was a Candy White Limited Edition, with black interior and a 170bhp, 1.8 litre turbocharged engine.
Commenting on the milestone, Christian Koch, President and CEO of Volkswagen Chattanooga, said,“Our Passat has raised the bar on what Americans can expect from a mid-size sedan and the 500,000th car was built with the same passion for detail as the first.”
With the old generation Passat listed out of its portfolio, Volkswagen India is expected to do better with the latest B8 generation Passat that is already on sale in global markets. This new model is expected to hit the Indian showrooms sometime next year.
