After unveiling it late last year, Volkswagen UK has launched the 2017 Golf range with the option of new engines, more technology and improved connectivity. The cars also benefit from improved styling.
Costing a little less than before, the 2017 Golf range starts off with the S 1.0 TSI three-door variant. Now standard across the range are LED rear lights while the majority of models across the hatchback and estate line-up are also now offered with a new generation of larger and improved touchscreen infotainment systems.
The infotainment system, in fact, can be operated via gesture control. Sporting a 9.2-inch screen, the system complements the Active Info Display that is also new in the Golf and appears as standard on all performance models of the Golfs.
Besides all-new tech, the 2017 Golf also features the enhanced EA211 TSI engine family. The highlight of the range is the all-new 1.5 TSI unit with around 145bhp. This is followed by the BlueMotion version producing 130bhp. Volkswagen has also boosted the performance of the Golf GTI, the new version of which will produce 230bhp and 245bhp (GTI Performance). What’s more, a new 7-speed DSG will gradually replace the 6-speed DSG as a high-efficiency gearbox for the Golf.
The UK line-up starts with the S variant and continues with SE, GT, R-Line, GTE, e-Golf, GTI and ultimately, the R.
