- Volkswagen T-Roc will be positioned below the Tiguan
- The model could debut at the 2020 Auto Expo
Volkswagen unveiled the T-Roc compact crossover in Italy back in 2017. Now, the T-Roc has been spotted in India during a public road test for the very first time. The model could make its India debut at the 2020 Auto Expo.
In the styling department, the Volkswagen T-Roc features a hexagonal grille flanked by sleek wraparound headlamps on either side. The air dam receives a mesh design while the LED DRLs are positioned around the fog lamp cluster. Also on offer are contrast coloured skid plates and black coloured body cladding. On either side, the model sports a chrome insert running from the A-pillar to the silhouette of the C-pillar.
Based on the MQB platform that also underpins the Volkswagen Tiguan, the T-Roc comes equipped with a large touchscreen infotainment system and a flat-bottom steering wheel. Powertrain options on the model are likely to be limited to a 1.5-litre petrol engine producing 150bhp, mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Volkswagen is expected to price the T-Roc at approximately Rs 15-17 lakhs, which will rival against the likes of the Jeep Compass upon launch sometime later in 2020.
