Volkswagen has unveiled the redesigned Volkswagen Touareg ahead of the car’s debut at the Beijing Motor Show later this month. Boasting of a refreshed design both at the front and back, new features and improved efficiency, the Touareg facelift promises to be more competitive than ever.
Upfront, the SUV features larger headlights (now bi-xenon as standard across the range), a deeper grille with four horizontal fins, redesigned bumper, all of which lend the SUV a wider stance. At the rear, the redesigned bumper housing a rear diffuser and twin tailpipes lends the Touareg a wider look than before. Inside, Volkswagen has added the option of new colours for the leather upholstery and new design accents.
Besides the design updates, the new Touareg features a host of safety features like automatic post-collision braking system, bi-xenon headlights and a coasting function on the 8-speed automatic gearbox. To further optimise the Touareg’s fuel efficiency, Volkswagen is offering low rolling resistance tyres while stop/start and battery regeneration systems are standard on both the V6 TDI engine powered models.
Speaking of engines, the entry-level 3-litre V6 TDI produces 204bhp as before, while the previous 245bhp unit has been upgraded to offer 260bhp. The facelifted Touareg is expected to go on sale in UK starting August this year with Volkswagen confirming that the V8 diesel and hybrid models will no longer be in the offering.
