Volkswagen India as a part of its 'Depot Network Developement Project' will setup a regional parts distribution centre (RDC) in Bhiwandi near Mumbai and recently completed the ground breaking ceremony at the site.
The Bhiwandi faciltity will provide spares and supplies to the Western, Southern and eastern regions which the company claims accounts for 60-65 per cent of its business. This is the German automakers second RDC after Gurgaon and is a part of its plan to decrease the lead time in delivering spares to the dealerships.
The Bhiwandi facility will begin operation in 2014. Volkswagen has also planned eventually to include Lamborghini and Porsche in this network.
