The Volkswagen I.D. Crozz inches closer to its production. The German carmaker will reveal a ‘further developed version’ of the first I.D. product at the next week’s Frankfurt Auto Show.
The Crozz was the third I.D. product showcased at the Shanghai Motor Show in April this year. While showcasing the I.D. Crozz concept, Volkswagen promised a production version of the electric crossover by 2020. Now, the German giant has just released a teaser with a new design sketch.
The Crozz now gets a bright red paint scheme, a welcome change over the bland silver paint from the earlier concept. The LED headlights now get a new contemporary signature. The sketch highlights a conventional VW logo rather than an illuminated one as on the other I.D. vehicles. The front bumper also seems to be reworked.
The developed version will be based on an all-electric architecture specially developed for electric vehicles. The same MEB platform will underpin all the electric cars from the Volkswagen Group. The modern interior will also be retained. With the lithium-ion battery in the vehicle floor, Volkswagen promises an “open space lounge-like spatial concept with four variable individual seats”.
No powertrain details are available yet. However, the crossover is expected to be powered by a pair of electric motors – a 75 kW unit up front, and a 150 kW set-up at the rear. The power output is expected to be somewhere around 300 bhp with a mile of more than 400 kilometres.
The updated I.D. Crozz will make its global premiere on 12 September at the Frankfurt Motor Show alongside the new-gen Polo, T-Roc, and the Amarok Aventura Exclusive concept. CarWale will be there as well. So, stay tuned for an exclusive coverage of the German motor show.
