Volkswagen will launch the facelifted Jetta in India tomorrow at an event in Mumbai. The revamped Jetta will be sold as a CKD unit and prices are expected to start at Rs 13 lakh.
The latest iteration of the Jetta gets mild revisions to distinguish it from the version currently on sale. The car gets new headlamps, refreshed grille, redesigned front bumper and rectangular fog lamps. The headlights come with LED daytime running lights and optional bi-xenon adaptive technology. The design of the alloy wheels has been tweaked slightly, while revised tail lamps and a modified bumper can be seen at the back.
This latest D-Segment offering from the German carmaker will also get changes to the cabin. Though the layout of the dashboard remains the same, there is a new flat-bottomed multi-function steering wheel, enhancements like a chrome embellishment for the instrument cluster, new climate control functions, ambient lighting and revised AC vents. The centre console and the gearshift surround might come in a piano black finish and the seat fabric pattern will be changed to give a more premium feel to the owner.
The luxury sedan is expected to be powered by the same engine options available currently. The 1.4-litre petrol TSI engine produces 138bhp of power and 200Nm of torque, and the 2.0-litre diesel TDI mill churns out 148bhp of power and 320Nm of torque. The transmission options are also expected to continue, with the six-speed manual being available for both, and the DSG only for the diesel.
Volkswagen's refreshed Jetta will go up against the Skoda Octavia, Toyota Corolla Altis and the Hyundai Elantra in the D-segment of cars in India. Variant-wise pricing will be revealed tomorrow at the event.
