The Ameo was VW’s answer to the burgeoning entry level sedan segment. However owing to the increase in the demand for petrol’s, the Ameo was launched in petrol trim only. A diesel offering however, is important to get the desired numbers.
The power-plant expected is the same 1.5 litre diesel that does duty in the current Polo and the Vento, however it will be substantially updated with a larger turbocharger which should bump up the power. Furthermore, expect the car to fully meet and surpass emission norms too.
The Ameo like its petrol variant will be available in Trendline, Comfortline and Highline trim to suit the customer’s choice. Transmission options will be between a manual or the 7-speed DSG while features are expected to remain similar to the petrol variant.
The inclusion of the diesel variant is sure to help VW to take on its competition like the Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze, Tata Zest and the Hyundai Xcent. Keep watching this space for more!
