Volkswagen will launch the Polo TSI GT for the Indian market on April 29. The car is powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged mill that produces 105PS and 175Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox.
The vehicle has been spied testing quite a few times near Pune during which we discovered that it has been based on the Highline variant of the Polo range. However, we are unsure if the DSG box will offered for the lower spec variants. The pictures also show us that the car has been fitted with ESP and that the gearbox has a tiptronic option. Other new features include revised grille and alloy wheels, chrome pedals and GT badging.
The Polo GT TSI will compete with the Skoda Fabia 1.6 petrol, Tata Indica Vista D90 and the Hyundai i20 Sport but might be priced slightly higher due to the introduction of the new gearbox. We also believe that eventually this new mill will replace the 1.6-litre engine in the Skoda Fabia, Vento sedan and the Rapid sedan.
