Volkswagen’s new Tiguan officially premiered at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2015. This SUV is based on the MQB platform and is comparatively larger than the outgoing model in overall size. VW is expected to get this SUV into Indian showrooms by the end of the fiscal year.
VW’s new Tiguan boasts of an all new design that incorporates three chromed slats on the grille with a huge logo that’s flanked by sleek headlamps which include DRLs.
There’s a deep crease that starts from under the A-pillar and runs the shoulder line all the way to the tail of the car. This along with the slightly flared wheel arches and huge wheels highlight a subtle but contemporary profile.
A dense C-pillar holds those big tail lamps and is separated by a conspicuous VW logo in the middle. The bumpers and sides have cladding that are half-greyed out and are bordered with chrome inserts.
The interiors and dashboard are in line with VW’s familiar design cues. The driver gets a functional steering wheel and the instrument cluster houses a set of modern dials.
A huge touchscreen separates the function buttons which are placed in a clutter free manner that is easily accessible. Air-con controls are also well laid out and effortlessly reachable.
