- A total of 38 units have been recalled
- Potential issue could lead to loss of vehicle stability
Volkswagen has officially recalled the Virtus and the Taigun in the Indian market. The recall concerns 38 units across both models manufactured between 29 November, 2023 and 20 January, 2024.
According to the details, due to the production process irregularity at the component supplier’s end, it is suspected that the weld seam on the affected component, ‘track control arm’ might have been missed during the welding process. In the case of a critical driving manoeuvre, the issue might result in a sudden loss of vehicle stability and control on component failure. Further, this can lead to an accident, potentially injuring the vehicle occupants and causing damage to third parties.
While Volkswagen India is yet to issue an official statement on the same, we expect that the company will contact the owners of the concerned cars for a voluntary inspection and the fix will be carried out free of cost.
