The Future is SUVW!
Whether it be stylish and sporty or spacious and practical - Volkswagen’s SUVWs fit every bill. Keeping with the times, the company’s portfolio in India is reflecting the change in demand for more macho, comfortable and efficient SUVs. VW made its foray into the SUV segment with the 3.0-litre V6 TDI powered Touareg back in 2008, while it currently offers the snazzy T-Roc and sensible Tiguan AllSpace and will soon launch the exciting new Taigun. Let’s find out what makes these SUVWs special:
Head-turning design
While retaining the traditional Volkswagen ethos of being full of exciting details rather than outright flashiness, the Volkswagen T-Roc’s sporty design and bright paint options get everyone’s attention. The mature Tiguan AllSpace too has eye-catching details like the all-LED lighting at the front and rear, 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and a great presence overall.
Exciting features
The attention grabbing details continue on the inside of the Volkswagen T-Roc. Unmatched build quality is complemented by a dual-tone interior theme and an extremely modern all-digital interface including a digital cockpit for the driver. The panoramic sunroof and Composition Media touchscreen infotainment system will amaze everyone while they enjoy the comfort of the all-leather upholstery and two-zone climate control system.
Space for All
The Volkswagen Tiguan AllSpace is both mature and charming. The spacious seven seater SUV is comfortable and immensely flexible with up to 1274-litres of boot space ensuring nothing you love is left behind. Adding to the spacious feeling is the panoramic sunroof and the light leather upholstery, while the large feature-rich touchscreen display paired to an eight-speaker high-fidelity sound system will keep everyone entertained.
Confidence-inspiring safety
Both the Volkswagen T-Roc and the Tiguan AllSpace have strong and sturdy build and offer the best safety systems. Safety is provided to all thanks to multiple airbags including curtain airbags for rear passengers, Electronic Stability Control for sure-footed handling and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
TSI - unmatched power and efficiency
The Volkswagen T-Roc is powered by a 1.5-litre TSI motor developing 148bhp of power and 250Nm of torque, which paired to a lightning-quick shifting seven-speed DSG can complete the 0-100kmph run in just 8.4-seconds. The Volkswagen Tiguan AllSpace gets the larger 2.0-litre TSI motor developing 188bhp of maximum power and 320Nm of peak torque is paired to a seven-speed DSG gearbox and 4Motion intelligent AWD system for a comfortable, safe drive.
The highly functional Tiguan AllSpace returns 12.5kmpl*. The inherent advanced engineering of Volkswagen’s TSI technology makes both these engines very efficient, but the T-Roc features the addition of Active Cylinder Technology. This can shut off two cylinders while cruising, which makes it even more fuel efficient - the T-Roc returns an impressive 17.85kmpl*!
Volkswagen Taigun - Exciting times ahead
Volkswagen’s focus on launching more SUVs in India is going to get a boost next year with the introduction of the all-new made-for-India, made-in-India Taigun. Combining the company’s hallmarks of quality, performance, efficiency and superior technology with highly competitive pricing, the upcoming mid-sized SUV is sure to set a new benchmark in its segment.
