Volkswagen has been found testing a CNG powered dual fuel version of the Vento sedan by our friends at Indiancarsandbikes.in. This move comes hot on the heels of Japanese automaker Honda who will be launching a CNG powered City for the Indian market in the next few weeks.
The CNG powered Vento is expected to cost Rs 40,000 more than the petrol variant. The report also says that the CNG kit will have a factory warranty. However, it does not specify when the car will released or if the German automaker will allow owners of the petrol variants to upgrade their cars with a CNG kit at the dealer level.
Seen as a cheaper and cleaner option to petrol vehicles, manufacturers like Tata and Honda are currently testing CNG variants of their existing models. Small car market leader Maruti Suzuki already has a range of CNG powered small cars which includes the newly released Alto 800.
