Volkswagen has released a teaser for its Golf based T-Roc SUV ahead of its unveiling on 23 August. It is an MQB underpinned small SUV and will slot in below the Tiguan in VWs global lineup. It is the latest vehicle to be a part of the German automaker’s big plan to have an SUV body style in every part of the market that it exists in.
The T-Roc as a concept was showcased in 2013 and picked up much of its design cues from the pre-facelift mk7 Golf that had been unveiled a year before. However, recent spy shots indicate that this production car will pick its design cues from the newer Golf model but it also stays conservatively close to the concept car. The teaser video showcases the design process as well as the people behind the creation of the production version of the T-Roc.
Given its MQB base, it is expected to be offered with a range of petrol and diesel engines-pretty much the same lineup that is offered with the Golf hatchback as well as the Jetta sedan. From an enthusiast’s point of view, we could also hope for a T-Roc GTI but that will be later.
The unveiling will take place on 23 August but the car will be one of the highlights of the VW stall at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show which will take place at the beginning of the next month.
