Volkswagen has released its first teaser for a new vehicle that it will bring to the Pike Peak Hill Climb next year. VW will be returning on its own brand name to the legendary event after a gap of almost 30 years.
The dark image shows a silhouette of a purpose-built racer with a curvy design and a possibly a massive rear wing to keep the back of the car down as it ascends all 19.99km of the hill. The accompanying text indicates that VW has registered for the event.
We believe that it will be an electric car as this is the direction that Volkswagen is taking with its entire lineup in the future. It’s expected to have a swanky name but with a slightly understated design- a defining character of the brand even with regard to its motor sport activities.
This isn’t VW’s first attempt at the hill climb as it had entered a twin-engined Golf GTI to participate in the 1987 edition.
