Volkswagen India has achieved a domestic year on year growth of 58 per cent in the month of February. The German carmaker sold 3,965 units in February as compared to 2,510 cars sold in the corresponding month last year.
However, when compared to January 2017, the sales is down by a 2.3 per cent as the manufacturer sold 4,060 vehicles in the previous month. Volkswagen Ameo has been the prime mover in the sale for Volkswagen, followed by the Polo hatchback.
Volkswagen has announced three new additions to its Indian line-up for 2017. They are the Tiguan, Passat and the GTi. The facelifted Vento sedan is on its way as well and has been spotted a few times already. The update will bring in a new set of LED garnished headlamps to help Volkswagen’s hold in the C-segment.
Michael Mayer, director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, commenting on February sales, said, “The recently launched Volkswagen Ameo is attracting a new set of buyers and is also winning accolades for being the best Compact Sedan in the category. With exciting new launches planned for this year, building a robust product line-up and best-in-class products that are equipped with highest standards of safety, we aim to provide premium accessible carlines for customers across the length and breadth of the country.”
