We have lost count on the number of times Volkswagen India has visually upgraded the Polo and the Vento. Nonetheless, it seems the brand’s bread-and-butter models will soon be unveiled with a slightly refreshed front-end and interiors.
Both the Polo and the Vento have been spotted in their ‘new’ avatar at a VW dealership, meaning they are due for official launch very soon. The Polo GT line gets GTI-style bumpers and a few other minor revisions. As for the rest of the upgrades, the hatch and the sedan will come with a high speed chime, rear parking sensors and seatbelt warning for driver and passenger as standard across all variants.
There isn’t much to convey when it comes to the engine options as these vehicle will continue to come with the current set of petrol and diesel powertrains. The 1.5-litre diesel, however, is likely to be upgraded to comply with the BS-VI norms. As solid as they feel, both the Polo and the Vento have been around for over a decade and the fact is ostensible when you look at equipment list or cabin space efficiency.
VW India, then, needs to bring an entirely new generation of the Polo (based on the sixth-gen model sold overseas) and the Vento to improve their brand appeal and make the sales counters tick because the competition is upgrading at a much faster rate as buyers continue to flock to new-age tech and comfort-based features.
