Volkswagen will showcase its top-of-the-line Polo GTI at the 2016 Expo. The car will be offered in its three-door guise in both manual and automatic variants. It has already been spotted testing in India on multiple occasions and is expected to be launched later this year.
First up, this hot hatch will be powered by a 1.8-litre petrol mill that produces 190bhp and sends power to the front wheels via a seven-speed DSG with paddle shifters. 0-100kmph comes up in 6.7 seconds and the top speed is around 235kmph. It is also expected to get a stiffer suspension and quite a few electronic aids.
Unlike the understated GT twins, this one shows off quite a bit thanks to the sporty grille, large wheels and large bumpers. It also gets projector headlamps and LED DRLs. The cabin is standard VW but now gets a red stitching on the mats, seats and steering wheel. The seats are sporty in nature and have a large amount of side bolstering.
The car is being brought into the Indian market via the CBU route and is expected to be priced around Rs 20 lakh.
