The VW stall at the 2014 Paris Motor Show is gleaming with a white Polo GTI (2015 model). This isn’t the first appearance of the facelifted Polo GTI as the car was unveiled a couple of weeks before the Paris Motor Show began.
The Polo with the GTI nomenclature gets 188 ponies under its hood and 238Nm of twisting force. This is a raise of 11 horsepower over the outgoing model. The power generation duty is be done by the 1.8-litre TSI four-cylinder turbocharged petrol motor from Audi. The Polo GTI will attain a top speed of 237kmph, and it will hit the ton in 6.7 seconds.
It also gets styling updates like new bumpers front and rear, red stripe on the honeycomb grille and a dual exhaust. It gets a new flat-base steering wheel, red stitching on the upholstery and gloss black trim.
It is unlikely that the Polo R would ever make it to India, as it would be desirable but unaffordable for many. In our country such products seldom sell, and end up doing no benefit to the companies selling them. But, we the enthusiasts wish VW does the impossible and adds a Polo R to its product line-up here.
