The Volkswagen Polo GT diesel (TDI) has been spied testing by the team at Oncars. These spy shots have arrived just a few weeks after the Polo GT TSI was launched. The car looks pretty much the same as the petrol GT model and even has the same alloy wheels that were introduced with the new performance version.
The diesel GT version of the Polo may be powered by the 1.6-litre diesel mill from the Vento and the Rapid. The four-cylinder engine develops 103bhp and 250Nm of torque – that is respectable number compared to the three-cylinder diesel unit. Power will be transmitted to the front wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox. The car sports black interiors similar to the GT TSI and is expected to get the same features.
The car, when launched, will join other sporty diesel hatchbacks like the Fiat Punto Sport and the Indica Vista D90. Due to the premium that diesels command, we expect this vehicle to be priced between Rs 8 lakh to Rs 9 lakh and will mostly be launched around the end of September.
