An updated version of the Volkswagen Polo has been launched in India with prices starting at Rs 5.82 lakhs (ex-showroom). The updated Polo is available across three engine options and eight colour schemes of which sunset new is a new tone for the hatchback.
Exterior changes, which are most significant for the hatchback, comprise a new GTI-like grille, front and rear bumpers as well as slightly modified alloy wheels as compared to the current car.
The cabin remains more or less unchanged and on top-of-the-line models, you get touchscreen infotainment system, climate control, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and an all-black colour scheme.
The Volkswagen Polo is being offered with a 1.0-litre petrol engine producing 75bhp/95Nm as well as a 1.5-litre diesel that produces 89bhp/230Nm in stock form and 108bhp/250Nm in the GT TDI guise. You also get 1.2-litre turbo petrol producing 103bhp/175Nm in the Polo GT TSI. All engines get a five-speed manual while the GT TSI is only offered with a seven-speed DSG.
The Volkswagen Polo is a rival for the Honda Jazz, Hyundai Elite i20 and the Maruti Suzuki Baleno in the premium B-segment of the Indian car market.
