Another day, another set of spy shots of the Volkswagen Polo Cross but this time much closer to the vehicle and revealing few more details. The Polo Cross is a hunkered and more beefy version of the standard Polo and is currently on sale on many of VW’s markets around the world.
The car that has been spotted has black body cladding, taller and different wheels, silver coloured mirrors, roof rails and smoked headlamps. It features a TDI badge and is likely to be powered by the same 1.2-litre mill that sits in the Vento and the Rapid sedans. This engine produces 103PS, 250Nm of torque and is mated five-speed manual gearbox.
There are also reports suggesting that the Polo Cross might get a tail gate mounted spare wheel to add to the butch image, but this is unlikely to happened as the globally the Polo Cross does not have such a feature. The interiors are expected to remain the same as the standard car but it is likely that VW might change the colour of the trim to differentiate it from the standard car.
The company has never made an announcement about bringing the car to India. However, the repeated sighting of RHD test vehicles in and around Pune is a sign that VW wants to cash in on the growing demand for crossovers in India.
